Individual Assignment (20%) Article Critique

Purpose of the Assignment

This assignment aims to develop students’ critical and analytical thinking by evaluating how ethics, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), and corporate governance contribute to sustainability and sustainable development. Students will analyze a contemporary article and assess how ethical decision-making processes are embedded within CSR and governance frameworks, with specific reference to organizations operating in the UAE.

Task Description

Each student is required to select one contemporary article (academic or professional) published within the last five years that discusses ethics, CSR, and/or corporate governance (or any one of these concepts).

Based on the selected article, students must write a critical analytical report that:

• Evaluates the alignment between ethical practices, CSR initiatives, and corporate governance mechanisms.
• Assesses how these elements support sustainable development and corporate strategy.
• Reflects on ethical decision-making processes within CSR and governance frameworks.
• Applies the analysis to the UAE business and regulatory context.
