Writing Analysis

Review the table below. The following breakdown includes the scores and dates of arrival for two 4th-grade students. Scores are from WIDA ACCESS 2.0 January 2020

The writing prompt below was given to both students. They both received the same instruction before the lesson and have both had consistent attendance this school year.

1. Using the WIDA writing rubric, give each student a writing score for their writing assignment. 

2. Identify strengths and areas for improvement for each of the students. (Consider the components of each category in the writing rubric,as well as the forms and functions handout as a guide.)

3. Describe your next steps as the teacher of these students. Consider the readings and discussions throughout this course.  What would your instructional focus be, and how would you utilize key strategies taught throughout this course, as well as other strategies or resources?

4.  Discuss the factors that could contribute to the difference in the production of written language for the two students.
